Cashmere demands more attention than wool.
Caring for cashmere:
Cashmere can only be hand washed or dry cleaned.
For hand washing:
Small balls of fibre called pills can form on cashmere items after wearing them a few times. These balls are caused by loose fibres tangling together during wear. You can remove the pills either with your hands or with a special cashmere comb.
How to prevent moths from eating away at cashmere?
Always keep your cashmere garments clean. Sweat and food stains easily attract moths to lay their eggs. Use zip bags to store your cashmere clothes for longer periods.
Moths live up to 21 days. Air your drawers at least once a month to let light and air in. To remove moths from cashmere, wrap it in tissue paper, put it in a plastic bag and leave it in your refrigerator for one night. Take it out the next day. This process will kill moths and their larvae. Place cedar balls in your closet as moth repellents.
